Wild Mama Weekly Snippet
What I’m watching, reading, listening to and thinking about this week!
Happy Sunday wild ones,
This week I celebrate one whole year of writing on substack! What a journey it’s been. I still very much feel like I have no idea what I’m doing! Thanks for following along. I so deeply appreciate each and every one of you who read and engage with my work.
This week we have had 2 family birthdays, another birthday party to attend, a travel day and some friend catch ups. It’s been nice. It’s been big.
Watching:
This week Michael and I have started watching Dopesick on Disney+. We’re currently 3 episodes in. It’s a series following the opioid crisis in America. This series was recommended to me probably 2 years ago. After reading (and loving) Demon Copperhead recently I thought it was time to visit and have dragged my husband along for the ride. It is super interesting watching the intersection of medicine and marketing. A good reminder of how the pharmaceutical industry isn’t so altruistic. I’m interested to see where the series takes us.
As a family we are moving through the catalogue of episodes available by Living Big in a Tiny Houseon YouTube. Imagining what our next housing steps could look like. Dreaming and visioning together. After living in a caravan for the past 14 months we are so aware that we don’t need a tonne of space to comfortably live and explore in this world but are also starting to feel a sense of needing to be grounded somewhere. Staying open and curious to what opportunities arise for us this year. Open to housesitting opportunities so if you hear of something please let us know!
Reading:
I’ve had a slower few reading days if I’m being honest. I have been DNFing more recently and allowing myself to loosen reading goals to keep reading fun and manageable. I’m currently working on my book reviews from February and will have them and my reading stats up later in the week.
My current reads are Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross and The Continuum Concept by Jean Liedloff.
This week’s reading goals:
💫 Finish current audiobook and move onto either where I’m up to in Outlander or in the Throne of Glass series. Help me decide! Which should I read first?
💫 Start The Lost Apothecary which is sitting on my bedside.
💫 Finish Ruthless Vows.
💫 Finish The Continuum Concept.
💫 Read more of The Silver Chair aloud with my children
Listening to:
I haven’t done much listening this week. My mind has been quite busy. It has felt like there are always so many decisions to make, so many jobs that need doing and so many people needing my attention.
I did listen to the Change Your Life in an Hour audiobook. I found it an inspiring reminder to look after myself in a variety of different ways. I even wrote a whole list of things to try. For me a huge priority currently is reducing stress. Years of chronic stress have taken a huge toll on my body. Hoping to use strategies outlined in this book to support me.
I also kept up with my favourite Currently Reading podcast. My TBR pile is getting out of control so I may need to take a break and try out some new podcasts, or work through some more of my TBR on audio!
My song share for the week is Wild Child by The Black Keys. Enjoy!
Thinking about:
This week marks the end of the Conscious Conception group program I have been running for the past month. If you didn’t know. As well as being a mama, traveler and book reader I’m also a doula! I specialise in supporting people to prepare body, mind and spirit to call in their babies. This is a huge passion of mine after a magical experience consciously conceiving my 3rd baby almost 4 years ago now. The past month has been such a beautiful time of connection with these conscious mamas readying themselves for this not phase of motherhood. I’m so grateful for this work!
As mentioned above we’re also reimagining what travel life can and will look like for us going forward. It feels like an exciting time full of possibility but also scary as it’s full of so many unknowns.
And that’s me for the week beautiful people!
May the next week bring so much peace, joy and abundance to all our lives.
Would love to hear what you’re currently watching, reading, listening to and thinking about if you’re up for sharing! 💕
My February Resource Round Up was released this week if you missed it:
I’m so excited for this new Substack project that Stephanie has started!
Happy one year on Substack!
And thanks for sharing Mother Reader 🤗
I’m reading the Throne of Glass series right now! I just started The Assassin’s Blade but I’m reading it third, after TOG and Crown of Midnight. This order was recommended to me. I’m enjoying it so far!
