Homeschooling on the days where you really just don’t want to…
Pushing through, simplifying and holding the vision.
I’ve written before about homeschooling when the children just don’t want to. But what about the days when it’s us, the grown ups? What about the weeks that feel hectic and overwhelming and we can’t think straight? When you just can’t bring yourself to offer another activity or idea? Or you don’t have the steam to go to the homeschool groups and run around doing all the extracurriculars?
We’ve had a lot of those kinds of days recently. Some weeks that have been full and stressful and unexpected things have popped up. It’s almost never the kids fault too (cue mum guilt). There are certainly downsides and challenges to the lifestyle we live, travelling full time with no support. Managing the complexity of remote work, health struggles, sibling squabbles, finances, housework and all the rest. I’m sure it’s very similar for mostly everyone with a few tweaks here and there for particular circumstances. Life keeps on lifin’ and we’ve gotta keep coming up with ways to create and maintain our beautiful lives.
So how to practically manage on the hard days? How to set aside our challenges and keep prioritising our children and ourselves and the life we wish to create together?
